On 24 October Arts OutWest’s arts and health coordinator Cristine McMillan with Arts Snacks facilitators Cath McNamara and Ro Burns presented a workshop at the WHRN2022 Research Symposium at Western Plans Cultural Central Dubbo. The workshop was based on the Virtual Art Snacks program that Arts OutWest offers to residents online in Multi-Purpose Services in WNSW Local Health District. Kate Smith was the MC for the event.
Christine discussed the outcomes of the Virtual Art Snacks program. Cath and Ro guided attendees through a series of integrated visual arts and movement activities, which were greatly enjoyed. Cath’s movement work is based on the Body Weather philosophy and Ro’s visual arts presentation techniques are based on the teachings of the National Gallery of Australia, Art and Dementia program.
Virtual Arts Snacks is a creative arts program in Multi-Purpose Services (MPS) across the Western NSW Local Health District. The new initiative by Arts OutWest provides rural artists and health workers with the skills to deliver a program of short, sequential cross-platform activities to residents in aged care.
