Dr Amelia Green of Griffith University is leading a research project into the social and economic impacts of Australian silo art on both people who visit silo art and people who live in and around towns with silo art such as Weethalle, Dunedoo and Gunnedah. The hope is that this research will provide much needed publicly available and empirical evidence regarding the current impacts of silo art as a growing national movement throughout rural and regional Australia. The knowledge gained will also help to support and shape future mural, public art, cultural, tourism and economic development projects throughout rural and regional Australia, including the ongoing promotion, activation and extension of existing silo art sites.
