Help us shape the next National Cultural Policy

The Australian Government is currently developing a new National Cultural Policy to shape the future direction of the creative and cultural sector. They are currently seeking public submissions, which will be key in informing this new policy. 

Building on Revive: A place for every story, a story for every place, the policy will address gaps, respond to emerging priorities, and provide a clear framework to support a vibrant and sustainable cultural future. It will set a direction for the coming years and guide how the Australian Government supports creativity, cultural expression and participation across the nation. 

This is our chance to make sure that regional, rural and remote artists are prioritised.  

How to have your say

The government is inviting the public to contribute written submissions of up to 500 words.  

You can make your submission count by: 

  1. Using these key words in your submission: Regional, Remote, Rural, Disaster Preparedness, Artificial Intelligence and Climate Change. The department will be using AI tools to identify common themes, so using these key words will be essential. 
  2. Always include your postcode when submitting. Submissions from regional Australia will be identified through postcode data and this helps ensure regional voices are counted.  
  3. On the form, at Questions 9 and 11, tick the relevant boxes (you can select multiple). Then tick “Other” and write Regional and Remote.

What else can you do

Regional Arts Australia are facilitating two online sessions on 6 & 7 May to bring together regional and remote arts workers, community members and organisations to discuss shared priorities and how to make submissions count.  These are open discussions, not debates, so come with your ideas. All voices are welcome.
