First Nations awareness and cultural safety for artists and arts workers

In this workshop, Anaiwan man Dave Widders will take workshop participants through the history and politics of Aboriginal culture in NSW, helping you to find effective ways of working respectfully. This will help us all with creating better and safer environments for Aboriginal artists and workers, increasing awareness and understanding throughout the arts sector and in our regional communities.
Dave Widders is a very proud Anaiwan man from Armidale NSW. David has worked over the last 20 years in Federal, State, local Government and community organizations. David is driven by a passion to make a difference for Aboriginal people and make a push towards a positive reconciliation across the wider community. This can only happen with a two way education process. Dave has worked in Aboriginal communities across Australia from Urban, Regional and Remote areas and has been accepted by the local Aboriginal people respectively.

Introduction to Xero: How to use it to manage your finances and payments

Xero has been adopted as one of the most widely used accounting software programs for small businesses. Theresa Nguyen from Company Prophets has extensive experience in using this with arts organisations and will share information about how it works and what it can do.

Aimee Davies from Hey Mate set up Hey Mate to make sure that those working in the arts and creative industries could access industry-specific help with mental health, wellbeing and workplace safety. She will lead participants through ways of supporting their own wellbeing.

Having an online presence is now an expectation for artists, but how do you choose what to do with it and how do you make it happen? Led by Kate Howarth, an expert in regional promotion, design and communication in the arts.

Admin tips for running a successful creative business

How do you learn all those little things that make your admin run smoothly when what you really want to be doing is working on your creative output? It can be hard for artists that have never had to learn the skills of office work, but this session will be filled with lots of practical tips designed to make your admin life easier.

Tracey previously worked at the University of Sydney at the Conservatorium of Music and the Arts Council England with the national Creative Partnerships program.

Good governance tips for not for profit groups in the arts
