Orana Arts is searching for someone from or connected to the Wellington region of NSW, who is looking to learn skills and gain a start in the arts and culture sector. We are opening a position for an emerging Community Curator to assist the Orana Arts team with developing and implementing cultural and heritage programs, primarily at the Maliyan Cultural Centre in Wellington. You will gain skills and experience in many aspects of the arts and cultural sector, including community consultation, liaising with artists, installing exhibitions and general administration duties.

The successful applicant will be mentored and supported by the Orana Arts team and established creative producers. You’ll have the opportunity to contribute your ideas, build on the ideas of others, and help amazing things happen in and around Wellington. You will also build your connections in the sector, and have the opportunity to meet established artists and creators.

In a typical day you might contact a community group to arrange a meeting, organise supplies for an upcoming exhibition, guide visitors around the Maliyan Cultural Centre, and help to choose images for a social media campaign.

This position is a two year part-time contract of 21 hrs/week. The successful applicant will be expected to work extended hours of 28 hrs/week for the first 12 weeks.
