Applications are now open for artists and arts and cultural organisations to tour their work across regional NSW as part of Create NSW’s Regional Arts Touring Program.
Create NSW Interim Chief Executive Annette Pitman said Regional Arts Touring will deliver significant benefits for regional communities.
“We want our regional communities to be able to experience exceptional arts and culture, and this funding is part of the NSW Government’s commitment to ensuring the arts are accessible for everyone, no matter where you live,” Ms Pitman said.
“As well as ensuring regional audiences have access to quality productions, performances and exhibitions, the Program supports the careers of artists and strengthens the small to medium sector by developing new markets and audiences.”
Previous rounds of the Program have supported a diverse range of events including Sydney Youth Orchestra’s The Big West Tour, Performing Lines tour of TWO by Raghav Handa, and a 17-venue tour of Monkey Baa’s Possum Magic.
Executive Director of Monkey Baa, Kevin du Preez said the Regional Arts Touring funding enabled the theatre to present meaningful, uplifting arts experiences to new audiences across regional NSW.
“With this funding support, we continued to strengthen our relationships with regional partners and audiences – taking not just performances, but also our teaching artist workshop program into schools ahead of the tour to connect young people with creative arts learning experiences,” Mr du Preez said.
Regional Arts Touring (round 1) is part of the NSW Government’s $68 million Arts and Cultural Funding Program.
