A new survey has been created by the Australian Music Industry Network and the Australian Festival Association to tally the impact on performers, artists, production, crew, managers and booking agents affected by cancellations due to COVID-19.
COVID-19 has led to the cancellation of over 28,000 gigs since July 1st 2021 so far, equating to $84 million in lost income. The survey results so far show that of this lost revenue, 99% had no income protection or event cancellation insurance.
We would like to thank and acknowledge the original creators of ilostmygig.com out of Austin Texas who have been leading the way as they tally the losses from the SXSW cancellation.
The data collected helps quantify and explain to governments how the creative industries are impacted, so take the time to have your say!
