Connect with your community, gain industry insights and be inspired by some of Australia’s most successful authors at the 2022 Kids & YA Festival. With panels, networking opportunities, and a chance to pitch your unpublished manuscript, this year’s program offers the tools to take the next step in your writing career – whatever that might be.
Directed by award-winning children’s author Belinda Murrell, the 2022 Kids & YA Festival is brimming with diverse and dynamic speakers, including some of our freshest faces and most established storytellers, along with industry experts and publishers. ‘It has been such a joy to curate this year’s inspiring program for the Writing NSW Kids and YA Festival,’ said Belinda Murrell, festival director and award-winning author.
‘After two tough years of lockdowns and cancelled events, it will be wonderful to celebrate the vibrancy and depth of Australian children’s literature.’ Attendees will hear from some of Australia’s most successful and much-loved children’s authors such as Deborah Abela, Tristan Bancks, Kate Forsyth, RA Spratt and much more, as they share insights into their writing craft and respective practices, with tips for long term career development.
The program includes an intriguing and diverse mix of panels covering topics such as how to build career longevity, navigating social issues in YA, publishing picture books post-pandemic and self-publishing success. In addition, some attendees will have a chance to pitch their work to a panel of publishing professionals.
