The 2022 Far South Film Festival showcases films made by filmmakers living in regional areas of Australia.
Filmmakers from regional and remote areas of Australia are invited to submit to the festival short films (up to 40 minutes) and features (under 2 hours) that reflect the people, environment and issues that are important to them.
The festival is run by Far South Film Inc, an association of professional and emerging filmmakers and digital creatives located in the South East region of NSW Australia.
The overall Best Film Award is a $1000 cash prize and all Finalists will be offered free tickets to the in-person or online screenings. The festival also encourages young filmmakers under 25 years to enter films that tell their stories and have them seen by a wider audience, with a cash prize of $500 for the winning Youth Film.
Please note that in 2022, the festival will be a hybrid event – film screenings, Q&A sessions, workshops and awards will be both physically in Merimbula NSW Australia and online via video on demand. Plus, there will be a launch party on the Friday night to open the festival!
The festival showcases the talents of regional filmmakers and screen content creatives around Australia. Audiences can expect a diverse range of films told from the perspective of these storytellers; unique, beautiful, scary and moving tales from regional voices across our continent.
