Arts Northern Rivers have announced the successful museum recipients and participating artists for the inaugural Volunteer Museums Project (VAMP) – Artist in Residency Program. With the aim to create connections between regional, volunteer-run museums and Indigenous artists, VAMP works to strengthen community engagement and support future employment opportunities for First Nations artists.
Two museums from the Clarence Valley region have been selected to develop a residency program for visiting artists. These are the Maclean District Historical Society Inc. and Port of Yamba Historical Society.
The selected Indigenous artists include visual artist Frances Belle Parker and sound artist Blake Rhodes who each have strong connections to Yaegl Country. These artists will engage with the two museum’s collections to create new work and deliver public programs.
