The Local Government Shires Association (LGSA) announced the winners of the 2008 Local Government Cultural Awards on Friday 2 May at NSW Parliament House. The Awards celebrate and showcase an extraordinary range of arts and cultural activity across a full spectrum of council operations.
This year there were 116 submissions from 71 councils across the state. The award categories were: Aboriginal Cultural Development; Cultural Industries; Cultural Infrastructure; Integrated Cultural Policy Implementation; Library and Information Services; and Programs, Projects and Partnerships. There were also two inaugural special awards for Accessible Arts and the Peoples Choice Award.
