Applications now open for Regional Art Fund

Applications are now being called for the Regional Arts Fund (NSW), one of the key funding sources for arts and cultural activities in regional, rural and remote communities of NSW.

The Regional Arts Fund (RAF) is an initiative of the Australian Government. It supports arts and cultural activities that have long term cultural, economic and social benefits, promote partnerships and cultural networks, and provide skills development opportunities.

In NSW, the RAF is administered by Regional Arts NSW.  Funding is available for projects commencing after 1 January 2009 in the categories of New Initiatives, Partnerships and Residencies and Mentorships.  Funding is available for one, two or three year projects.

“Regional Arts NSW is delighted that the Minister for the Environment, Heritage and the Arts, the Hon Peter Garrett AM MP, has recognised the importance of the Regional Arts Fund and in particular the Community Grants program in the Federal Government’s recent budget.  $11.8m over 4 years has been committed to the national program.  The Community Grants, which are administered by Regional Arts NSW, provide vital support for a great range of creative projects in regional and remote communities in this state“, said Elizabeth Rogers, CEO of Regional Arts NSW.

“We acknowledge strong advocacy work for the continuation of the RAF by the national body, Regional Arts Australia and the other state peak regional arts organisations”, she added.  “The fund is administered by the peak body in each state as we have an in-depth understanding of the issues facing our regional artists and arts organisations. We encourage those interested in submitting an application to visit our web site for guidelines and application forms and to contact our funding office to discuss their proposals.”

Applications for the Regional Arts Fund (NSW) close on 14 August 2008.

Instructions, Guidelines and Application Forms for the Regional Arts Fund are available and can be downloaded from the Regional Arts NSW website www.regionalartsnsw.com.au
