Country Arts Support Program 2008
Below is the full list, by region, of the CASP grant recipients for 2008:
Albury Wodonga, Central West, Eastern Riverina, Far West, Mid North Coast, non-contributing, North West, Northern Rivers, Orana, South East, South West, Southern Tablelands, Upper Hunter, West Darling.
Albury Wodonga
- $1,600 to Albury Central Inc for Chalking it Up: Pavement Art @ Applause Festival. Pavement Artist, Ulla Taylor, will create the template for a chalk drawing which will be completed by community members as part of the Applause Festival.
- $1,500 to Albury Wodonga Youth Project Inc for Going Potty. Young people from disadvantaged backgrounds will attend workshops to learn skills in pottery, teamwork and art design. They will produce items for display to the community.
- $2,500 to Culcairn Community Development Committee for Culcairn Pipe Band Parade. Two pipe and drum bands will provide traditional cultural music and dance experiences as part of the street parade and festival celebrating Culcairn's 125 year history and culture.
- $1,805 to Murray Arts for Bollywood Spectacular Dance workshops. Farah Shah, Australia's leading Bollywood choreographer, dancer, teacher and performer will run a series of 'Bollywood Dance ' workshops for adults and children.
- $2,400 to Murray Arts for Axis of Awesome comedy band workshops. Musical comedy trio, Axis of Awesome, will conduct school and community workshops in musical comedy, song writing and improvised comedy and perform as feature act of the The Retro Youth Café.
- $2,400 to Retro Youth Café for Crime Scene-the sequel art Exhibition Opening with Forum. As part of Youth Week, interstate bands, Mz Ann Thropik and The Wrath will perform at the opening of Crime Scene-the sequel photographic exhibition at the Albury Regional Art Gallery. Mz Ann will also hold a 'tea party' forum in the Cafe on the importance of art and music as healthy and constructive forms of self expression and interaction.
- $2,400.00 to Write Around the Murray Festival Committee for Shaun Caldwell Project. Writing workshops and mentoring opportunities with digital video artist Shaun Gladwell held in conjunction with a dynamic video art exhibition. Works produced will feature in a performance event during the Write Around the Murray Festival.

Central West
- $750 to Bathurst Regional Art Gallery for Hill Shadows, shadow puppetry and music workshop. Artists Antonia Aitken and Tim Hansen will conduct a two-day puppetry and music workshop for students from three remote area schools, Hill End, Sofala and Hargraves, as part of the Hill End Artist-in-residence program.
- $1,000 to Bathurst Theatre Company for production of Do you know about the Creatures in the Trees. Design and development of a new work to be performed outdoors and inspired by the stories and illustrations of author Maurice Sendak.
- $1,200 to Blayney Shire Council for Celebrating 150 years 'Blayney Public School - Then & Now.' Production of a series of six art pieces that depict the development of Blayney Public School and will feature in the school's 150th anniversary celebration.
- $1,200 to Corinella School P&C for The Village Mural. Artist, Pol Cruz will work with the community to design and paint a Village Mural which celebrates and reflects the unique qualities of the district.
- $500 to Cumnock & District Progress Association for 'On Your Bike' art exhibition. A bicycle-themed art exhibition involving 10 local professional artists, 10 local identities and the children of Cumnock displaying their work in conjunction with the Eurimbla and Mulga bike rides.
- $1,500 to Friends of Burrendong Arboretum Inc for In Your Hands 2008 Spring festival and Sculpture Exhibition. Site-specific sculpture exhibition with an environmental theme coinciding with the biennial Spring Festival and involving at least 20 local and regional artists.
- $1,200 to Kandos Youth Activity for Spiel Shop. Artists Hannah Mosher and Janet Walk will deliver a series of weekly drama workshops at Kandos Youth Activity Centre culminating in performance.
- $1,500 to Lachlan Arts Council for Create a Mate. Two day cartooning workshop with Cartoon Dave building on skills developed in workshop held by Central West Libraries.
- $1,000 to Lithgow City Council for Threatened Species Botanical & Nature Illustrations Workshop and Exhibition. Two day botanical and nature illustration workshop facilitated by artist Fiona Lumsden culminating in an exhibition of artist and participant work at the Eskbank Museum.
- $750.00 to Lithgow Community Projects Inc. for Art 4 Youth. Visual arts program for young people in Lithgow.
- $2,000 to Oberon Arts Council Inc for Come to the Common - Terrazzo tapestries. Community members of all ages will interpret the Bicentennial Tapestries, an eight-panelled community needlework, into terrazzo, covering the floor of the local town rotunda. The design includes verse and a centrepiece depicting Oberon's prehistory.
- $1,200 to Sing Australia - Trundle Choir for Trundle Alive with Singing. Project designed to encourage community members to participate in song and dance as a means of relieving stress-related health problems.
- $500 to Wollemi Children's Creative Arts Committee for Winter Holiday Art Workshops. Creative arts workshops for children from the local and surrounding area. The workshops will be presented by two visiting and eight local artists and include painting, drawing, ceramics, mixed media and craft.
- $1,500 to Yeoval Historical Society for Yeoval Family History Poles. Community workshops to construct clay tiles with inscriptions and artwork that tell the stories of residents and families and pre-white settlement. The tiles will form the Yeoval History Poles and installed in the local bush park.

Eastern Riverina
- $2,497 to Skills Option Kurrajong Waratah for Connection. Adults with a disability who attend Skills Options and the Leisure Company supported to produce four dance and butoh pieces which will be performed at the Retirement Village as a part of The Cancer Wellness Program.
- $1,462 to Behind the Curtain Theatre Company for Something to Stand For comedy writing and performance workshops. Workshops will be held in Coolamon, Cootamundra, Tumbarumba and Wagga Wagga Libraries. Material will be workshopped and developed into performance for monthly comedy nights hosted by Behind The Curtain Theatre Company.
- $1,500 to Bidgee Blues Club Inc for Wagga Blues Weekend Wipeout. Inaugural 'Wagga Blues Weekend Wipe-out' showcasing the talents of nationally acclaimed blues musicians as well as supporting the continuing development of local blues artists.
- $350 to Coolamon Central School P & C for One Day Artist-in-Residence - Visual Arts Week. Artist Joanne Langtry will work with local students during a one-day residency as part of Visual Arts Week, a celebration and showcase of visual arts in Coolamon and including the Up 2 Date Art Exhibition.
- $1,000 to Harden-Murrumburrah Arts Council for Creative Art for Young People. Artist Pauline Jonach will conduct workshops in Basic Drawing, Printmaking, Mosaics, Italian Harlequin Masks, Botanical Studies in Watercolour, Portrait and Clothed figure drawing and Hebal Block Sculpture.
- $1,800 to Lockhart & Districts Progress Association for Rural Outreach Developing Talents of Rural Women. Patchwork workshops for geographically isolated women with professional tutor, culminating in an exhibition at Boree Creek Hall in conjunction with the "Spirit of the Land" Festival in Lockhart.
- $1,725 to Multicultural Council of Wagga Wagga for Wall to Wall. Two Wagga Wagga artists will conduct a series of art workshops for 15 young socially-isolated and disadvantaged people from refugee backgrounds. The workshops aim to encourage cultural expression and break down cultural barriers and will culminate in an exhibition at the Riverina Community College.
- $1,000 to St Andrews Anglican Church Committee for Artist-in-Residence - Up 2 Date Art Exhibition. Marrar sculptor Joanne Langtry will be artist-in-residence as part of the Up 2 Date Art Exhibition in creating garden sculptures from farm materials. Residency will include demonstrations and community presentations.
- $1,200 to The Leisure Company for We think we can dance. Assistance towards a twelve week program of music and movement for twenty people with mild to severe disabilities culminating in a performance at an Aged Care Facility in Wagga.
- $1,725 to Young District Arts Council for Workshops 2008. Six workshops to be conducted at the Southern Cross Cinema complex over a 6 month period and engaging local experienced artists as tutors.

- $1,500 to Centacare - Wilcannia Forbes (Bourke project) for Three Rivers Project. Local artist Sean Cassidy will spend two months working across the towns of Bourke and Brewarrina engaging local Indigenous artists to join community members in art workshops. Participants with particular talent will be identified and further supported to take on a leadership role.
- $600 to Cobar Public School P&C Association for I am Jack. Assistance towards bringing Monkey Baa Theatre to Cobar to present 'I am Jack' which addresses the issues of bullying targeting audiences between 7 and 12 years of age.
- $1,500 to Cobar Shire Council for In the Bin Film Festival. Short Film Festival and education program to be held and presented in Cobar Shire in collaboration with the Cobar Arts Council.
- $790 to Lightning Ridge Arts & Craft Council Inc for Tonal Impressionist Workshop in Oil for Seniors. One day workshop in oil painting for seniors.
- $1,500 to Lightning Ridge Neighbourhood Centre for The Dreamtime Black Opal - Digital Story Telling Workshop. Media artist Rebecca Ingram will conduct a community workshop in digital film encouraging stories that tell the history of the mining of the black opal from an Indigenous perspective.
- $2,000 to Murrawari Aboriginal Corporation for Scrap to Sculpture. Three two-day workshops use of recycled materials to create sculptures.
- $500 to Outback Arts for Emerging Artist Professional Development Workshop. A professional development workshop for emerging artists in Cobar with Cath Fogarty from Museums NSW. The workshop will focus on the 'Business of Art' and will include skills of developing a CV and exhibition proposals, exhibition opportunities and creative marketing.
- $1,800 to Walgett Shire Council for Butt Out Bullying; I am Jack. Live theatrical production promoting the anti bullying message.
- $2,610 to Warren Youth Centre for Warren Circus Skills. Three-day circus workshop in Warren during Youth Week to build trust, teamwork and practical skills.
- $1,500 to Yaama Steering Committee for Yaama Street Parade Project. Four day workshop to create banners and hand held figures to be used in the 2008 Yaama festival street parade.

Mid North Coast
- $3,000 to Bago Magic Performance Group for New Tutor. Employment of a drama tutor to support the director during 2008 school terms.
- $3,000 to Bowraville Hinterland Festival for ExtravaDance. Extravadance is a youth arts project, including workshops in Aboriginal Dance, Hip Hop, Rap and Graffiti Art and a professional performance of Hip Hop Dance.
- $1,250 to Focus Art Group for Coffs Coast Youth Arts in Focus. Arts professionals from the Focus group will run practical workshops in painting, drawing, cartooning, sculpture and curatorial skills for young people, culminating in a professional exhibition.
- $2,200 to Forster Neighbourhood Centre for Garden Art. As part of the development of a community garden, three artists will be employed - a local Indigenous woodcarver to sculpture piece of camphor laurel, drummer to conduct drumming workshops and Worimi Elder to coordinate Indigenous dance for the official opening.
- $1,500 to Macleay Valley Arts Council for Macleay Valley Arts Council Ball. Annual night of music and arts performance held in Macleay.
- $1,170 to Manning Valley Conservatorium for All that Jazz. Three prominent music teachers with a love of Jazz will conduct brass and woodwind workshops with Board Members, Symphony members and local musicians, culminating in a performance.
- $1,180 to Wingham Akoostik Festival for Capturing the Beauty of Wingham through time. Design and construction of a community mosaic that captures the individuality, essence of life and beauty of the local region.
- $2,000 to Woolgoolga Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Tourism Inc for Biggest Bhangra Bush Dance. Community workshop in Indian Bhangra dance and hosting of the world's Biggest Bhangra Bush Dance.

- $1,500 to Cessnock Youth Development Group for Steppin UP 2. Break dancing workshops as part of a Youth Hip Hop project for young people aged 12 - 25 in the Cessnock region.
- $1,400 to Ferry Artists for Exploring the Artistic Dimensions of the Hawkesbury. A series of four community workshops by accomplished local artists to interpret and reflect on the natural and historical landscape of the area.
- $2,000 to Flametree Productions Inc for Youth Choral Camp featuring Idea of North. A two day choral camp for approximately 50 choristers from the Shoalhaven, Southern Highlands and Illawarra regions featuring "The Idea of North' choral group.
- $1,000 to Jervis Bay & Basin Arts Inc. for See Change Winter Arts Festival. Showcase of selections from exhibited works in the 'See Change Winter Arts Festival' for a further month at the Shoalhaven City Arts Centre.
- $1,700 to Shellharbour City Council for Tongarra Community Heritage Mural. The Tongarra Museum 'Community Heritage Mural' aims to promote the value of Shellharbour heritage through a series of workshops aimed at local young people and facilitated by local artist Ron Short.
- $1,500 to Shoalhaven Youth Orchestra for 2009 Riversdale Residency. A residency involving the Shoalhaven Youth Orchestra at the Arthur and Yvonne Boyd Education Centre at Riversdale. The residency will give the members of the orchestra the opportunity to work intensively with regular conductors and visiting tutors.
- $1,500 to Southern Shoalhaven Youth Services for Many Cultures, One Community. Local Aboriginal Artist Noel Butler in partnership with Southern Shoalhaven Youth Services will engage young people to design and complete a community mural depicting aboriginal and non aboriginal cultural togetherness at the Ulladulla Youth Centre.
- $1,150 to Temora/West Wyalong Piano Students for 2008 Regional Piano Workshops. Regional Piano Workshops for students to play for an examiner and receive professional feedback.

- $1,000 to Bundarra Tourism & Development Committee for Bundarra On the Gwydir. Workshops, performances and arts activities as part of the Bundarra on the Gwydir Festival.
- $750 to Dorothea Mackellar Memorial Society for Dorothea Mackellar Poetry Awards. Workshops in local Gunnedah schools as part of the Dorothy Mackellar Poetry Awards - the biggest poetry writing event for school children in Australia.
- $700 to Glen Innes Pottery for Crstyalline Glaze Workshop and Exhibition. Professional development workshop with nationally known ceramicist Peter Wallace, for members of the Pottery Club and students from Glen Innes TAFE. Exhibition of work will be held at the public art gallery.
- $1,400 to New England Conservatorium of Music (Inverell Campus) for Mini Minstrels Program. An early childhood music program designed for toddlers and preschoolers and held weekly during 2008.
- $750 to Liverpool Plains Arts Council for 3 Big Flavours Folk. The Arts Council in conjunction with the Currabubula Precinct Committee will hold an inaugural folk festival in November 2008. There will be a drumming workshop, a performance and live folk music.
- $1,000 to Narrabri Youth Services for Raw Metal Dance Workshops. Dance workshops for outh.
- $500 to New England Bach Festival for Baroque Vocal Master Class Workshop. Baroque vocal masterclasses with Hans-Georg Wimmer and Inara Molinari for singing students as well as Baroque dance workshops for primary and junior secondary students in Armidale.
- $1,500 to New England Conservatorium of Music for Jazz Musician-in-residence project. Musician-in-residence will conduct jazz workshops with students and their teachers at 5 local schools in Armidale, Tenterfield, Glen Innes and Inverell.
- $1,000 to New England Writers' Centre for Writers Festival/Youth Online. A prominent Australian writer will conduct writing workshops for isolated young people as part of the New England Writers Festival 2008.
- $1,000 to Orpheus Music for Orpheus Music Early Chamber Summer School. Six day program for professional and amateur musicians in Armidale to study Baroque performance in a chamber music setting. Participants will work with renowned music specialists, studying specific instrumental techniques and approaches to performance.
- $2,000 to Tamworth Regional Conservatorium of Music for Workshop and Masterclasses Program. Nationally and internationally acclaimed Australian musicians to conduct workshops at Tamworth Regional Conservatorium.
- $1,800 to Two Rivers Arts Council (TRAC) for Movement performance for NAIDOC week. Dance workshops and performance for NAIDOC week, in partnership with Two Rivers Arts Council, Gunnedah High Aboriginal Unit, Gunnedah Circus School and Gunnedah Shire Council.
- $2,000 to Uralla Arts Council Inc for Get of your Arts Festival. "Light'n Up Productions" will travel to Uralla to help develop decorative gateways and site decorations for Uralla's inaugural "Get Off Your Arts Festival".
- $500 to Wallabadah Development Committee for Art and all that Jazz. Art Workshops as part of the "Art and All That Jazz" festival, to bring new skills to the community, especially children and youth.
- $400 to Wallabadah Development Committee for Landscapes in Oil. Art workshop with John Sheilds for people of all ages as well as an additional workshop for arts students with disabilities at Quirindi High School.

Northern Rivers
- $1,400 to Casino High School P & C for Wild Zone (Casino). A contemporary music-making project involving students and community members including Indigenous people and those with disabilities conducted by visiting composer Yantra de Vilder. Vocal and instrumental sounds of participants will be sampled and incorporated into dance soundtracks.
- $2,000 to Clarence Valley Council for The Skater's Rest. A local concreter and mosaic artist to work with local young people (particularly skaters) to build and design mosaic seating in the shape of skateboards to provide both public amenity and a notable public art piece at the Yamba Skate Park.
- $2,000 to Jambama Artists Centre for Printing techniques and creative product development for the Jambama artists. Four days of training workshops conducted by Jan Levy and Anne Leon, design & textile experts,to skill up 20 Indigenous artists and sewers as well as the Shed's coordinator in printing techniques and product design development.
- $1,300 to Lismore City Council Band for From Ooompapa to Mardi Gras - Concert Band to Carnivale - a big band makeover. An extreme makeover for the Lismore City Concert Band by developing a new repertoire and creating new costumes with students from the North Coast Institute of TAFE.
- $2,100 to Grafton ArtsFest for a six-day creative arts workshop for 5 to 11 year olds in Grafton. Students will embark on an artistic adventure involving storytelling, puppetry, face & body painting, costume & prop construction and special effects to deliver a 'grand tale' performance.
- $2,000 to Mid Richmond Neighbourhood Centre (Youth Outreach Program) for Youth Shout Out. A youth festival celebrating Youth Week 2008 to be held at Evans Head and including bands, photographic and visual arts competitions as well as surf and skate competitions, markets, workshops on current youth issues and other activities.
- $1,500 to The Byron Ballet Inc for Copelia. Production of the famous ballet 'Copelia' to be performed at the Byron Bay Community Centre.
- $2,000 to Uki Village & Districts Residents Association for The Uki Pottery Mural 2008: The New Looing in on the Old. A pottery mural encapsulating the community vision of the area. The mural will be a pottery jigsaw puzzle with each piece created by members of the community.

- $2,580 to Arthur Butler Memorial Committee for Research on the history of Tooraweenah, Arthur Butler and Butler Air Transport 1930-1957. Collection of information, stories and artefacts related to Tooraweenah, Arthur Butler or Butler Air Transport in the period 1930 - 1957.
- $3,000 to Baradine Progress Association Inc for Composition: The Baradine Bird Song. Workshop/artist fees for conductor and musician Stehen Leek to travel to Baradine. His composition 'Baradine Bird Song' will be sung by the Regional Children's Choir.
- $1,500 to Binnaway Progress Association for Binnaway Oral History Project. A professional journalist will interview and record historical recollections of three senior members of the Binnaway community to be recorded on CDs and made available for public use.
- $1,500 to Coolah District Development Group Inc for Coolah Artists Exhibition and Impressions Project. An exhibition titled 'Artists of Coolah' in conjunction with three forums to the wider community focusing on creative techniques.
- $1,000 to Orana Arts for This Business called Art. One day professional development, networking and sharing of business opportunities for artists in the region.
- $1,500 to Orana Country Music Association for Songwriting Workshop / Performance. Two day songwriting workshop and performance with Drew McAlister and Allan Caswell.
- $1,480 to Sporting Chance Academy Dubbo for Photography Workshops. Workshops provided to 60 'at risk' Aboriginal High School students in Dubbo and Narromine.
- $740 to TNT Arts Council for I Am Jack Theatre production by Monkey Baa ,addressing the issue of bullying. Production is aimed at K-6 Primary/Infants.
- $1,000 to TNT Arts Council for Song Company. Community performance by the Song Company's six-voice ensemble during Musica Viva's tour to Narromine.

- $2,500 to Batemans Bay Arts & Craft Society for Indigenous Plants, Birds and Animals. Assisted by local Aboriginal Elder, Georgina Parsons, artists will identify, classify, categorise and draw plants, animals and birds indigenous to the local area.
- $1,500 to Bega Valley Shire Library for Visiting Children's Author. A prominent children's author will be invited to run workshops at Bega Valley Shire libraries and local schools to broaden rural children's experience of literature.
- $2,500 to Cooma Little Theatre for Community Play with visiting director. Professional director from Canberra will direct 'Farmer Will Swap Combine Harvester for Wife' by Hugh O'Brien. Comedy production has a serious twist with non-acceptance of physical abuse to partners during and following high stress periods on the farm.
- $2,000 to Dalgety Chamber of Commerce for Tin Shed Rattlers School Performance and Bush Dance. Performance by the 'Tin Shed Rattlers' to schools in this isolated region. erformances will culminate in a bush dance at Dalgety Memorial Hall.
- $1,500 to Friends of the Libraries of the Bega Valley Shire Inc. for Book Theatre. Three literary theatre events to be conducted across the Bega Valley Shire during National Book Week, hosted by the Friends with the assistance of local group Theatre Onset.
- $1,500 to Moruya Jazz Festival for Jazz Music Workshops. Instructional music workshops in piano, brass, reeds and guitar during the annual Moruya Jazz Festival followed by a master class for all students.
- $1,110 to Snowy Monaro Arts Council for Blues Point. Evening concert by Blues Point providing a rare opportunity for Monaro district residents to enjoy a professional music performance.
- $1,500 to Southern General Practice Network for Journey of Grief. Opportunity for the general community and artists to exhibit their creative expression of grief. The exhibition will be held at The Mechanics Institute in Moruya.
- $1,190 to Southern General Practice Network for Photographic Exhibition by Young Parents Group. Young parents in Cooma invited to contribute to a Photography exhibition reflecting challenges and barriers faced by young parents.

- $1,000 to Edward River Art Society for Watercolour Skills workshop. Watercolour painting workshop by Amanda Hyett with Edward River Art Society members in Deniliquin.
- $1,000 to Hay Skate Park for Graffiti Workshop. Graffiti workshops for new Hay skate park
- $750 to Mathoura Art Group for Mathoura Arts Skills Program. Visual arts workshops with local arts group (mainly elderly).
- $1,500 to Mathoura Special Events Committee for Mathoura V.I.C: Mathoura Kids Artshops. Visual arts workshops with local artist Zoe Crump.
- $1,300 to Moama Adventure Playground for Tool Shed in Disguise. Workshops as part of a Public Art Project in Moama Adventure Playground.
- $1,550 to Moulamein Arts for Exhibition and Workshop. Exhibition and visual arts workshop with artist Wendy McDonald at new local community art group and gallery.
- $1,500 to Moulamein School P & C Association for Children's Art Workshops. Children's visual arts workshops.
- $1,500 to Outback Theatre for Young People Inc for Eyes to the Floor. Professional acting mentoring project for young actors in 'Eyes to the Floor' regional production.
- $630 to Pademelons and Dust Gallery for Creative Welding. Creative welding workshop for men with public artist Ben Gilbert, for inclusion in the Deniliquin Ute Muster Gateway Project.
- $2,100 to Shear Outback for Shear Faces Exhibition. Painting and photography workshop and exhibition.
- $1,090 to South West Music Regional Conservatorium for South West Music Camp. Skills development workshops at the annual South West Regional Music Camp with concert band conductor Philippa Edwards.

- $1,000 to Braidwood Central School P & C for Our School - Our Future. Workshops for students displaying negative attitudes towards learning, poor numeracy and literacy skills and low self-esteem. Workshops designed to inspire through developing practical skills in design and fabrication of metal sculpture.
- $823 to Goulburn Lieder Theatre Company for The 3rd Gathering. Three regional artists will tutor at 'The 3rd Gathering', continuing the networking and skills development of up to 80 youth involved in performing arts in southern NSW. The event is held at the Lieder Theatre over 3 days during national Youth Week 2008.
- $950 to Goulburn Regional Art Gallery for Art of Africa - Musical Performance at Exhibition Opening Event. Musical performance for opening event of exhibition "Walala Wasala: The Fabric of African Politics". The event will also include an African market of food and craft items provided by the community and African show-and-tell for school groups.
- $1,500 to Irish Woolfest Boorowa for Irish Woolfest - Jitterbugs Performers. Performance by the Jitterbugs at the Irish Woolfest during which characters take children on an interactive and entertaining musical journey containing messages on fitness, wellbeing, healthy living and environment.

Works will be exhibited in Marulan during the Spring Arts & Kites Festival and also link in with the proposed Funky Art workshop in Queanbeyan.
- $1,943 to Queanbeyan City Council for Aboriginal Art Transport Project. Partnership between Council, Regional Transport Coordinator, Indigenous communities, students, businesses and government services, involving painting of a local public transport bus, taxi and council community transport vehicle with original Aboriginal art designs that reflect the area, fauna, flora and transport.
- $2,000 to Robertson Shed Inc CTC at Robertson for Arts Education and Environment: Celebrating our Unique Place. Art and environmental science workshops for primary school students with ceramic artist Celeste Coucke. Environmental concepts will be explored and produced ceramic artwork displayed at an exhibition, along with a photographic narrative of the project.
- $2,000 to Southern Tablelands Regional Library for Conspire to Inspire. Series of creative writing and public reading workshops targeting emerging poets and addressing identified gaps in writing skills, performance, poetry events management and developing regional and state networks. Workshops will culminate in performance during National Poetry Week.
- $800 to Taralga Progress Association for Focus on Taralga. Workshops for children, teenagers and adults in painting, sculpture and puppet-making to be held in conjunction with Taralga Art Show in June.
- $1,300 to Wee Jasper P&C for Wee Jaspar ventures into Writing. Writer- in-residence James Roy will conduct workshops with students, teachers and interested community members from four small regional schools at the Wee Jasper Adventure Camp in April.
- $1,484 to Yass Youth Association for Screenprinting workshops for Disadvantaged Youth. Screenprinting and design workshops for youth centre participants, predominantly indigenous. The completed work will be exhibited.

Upper Hunter
- $3,000 to Broke Fordwich Tourism Association Inc for Folk in Broke Spectrum of Music. The Folk in Broke Festival provides the visitor with a varied schedule of musical and dance activities and workshops with professional musicians and musical groups. A radio play will be a feature this year.
- $2,890 to Muswellbrook & Upper Hunter Eisteddfod for la Serva Padrona. Staging of the Blue Bottle Production's comic opera ‘La Serva Padrona’ in Muswellbrook.
- $1,540 to Muswellbrook Shire Arts Council for Sculpture Workshop Weekend at Ellammarrra Homestead. A sculpture workshop extending over two weekends teaching participants how to draw, mould in clay and carve in three dimensions.
- $640 to Scone Arts and Craft Inc for Winter Workshops 2008. Series of two day community workshops to provide tuition in a range of painting mediums with three different expert tutors.
- $2,320 to Singleton Public Library for Away With Words. Series of writing workshops at the Singleton Library with two visiting writers. Participants will mainly be the newly formed Singleton Writers Group although two workshops will also be offered to local schools.
- $1,500 to Upper Hunter Regional Library for Going Potty in the Hunter. Series of pottery workshops across the Upper Hunter for teenagers to be held in the April, July and October school vacations. Artwork produced will be on exhibition in the libraries in each town.
- $1,140 to Upper Hunter Regional Library for Denman: a moment in time. Local school children will create artwork for the new Library section of the Denman Community Services Building.
- $470 to Upper Hunter Shire Council for Mime Festival Fun. Artist Merryn Spencer will perform street theatre and run two workshops with local students at the Upper Hunter Horse Festival in Scone.
- $800 to Warrah Writers for Memoir Workshop. A workshop to write memoir pieces that will be collated into an anthology.

- $1,900 to Broken Hill Civic Orchestra for Mark Walton in the Outback. Workshop and performance in Broken Hill and Tibooburra, with specialist woodwind tutor, Mark Walton. The performance atTibooburra will be part of their festival in June 08.
