ArtStart: Ken Hutchinson's Sculpting Workshop

Tapping of chisels and faces of concentration were the go at the Arts OutWest Artstart stone carving workshop held at the Old School House Wattamondara near Cowra in October. Participants worked on individual stone sculptures carved from the soft Coraline Limestone from Mount Gambier in South Australia. Each participant designed and worked on an individual design that was either planned and drawn or arose spontaneously on the day. Instruction on soft stone carving techniques and OH&S procedures were provided by Ken Hutchinson. "The quality and creativity of the work was wonderful and the work ethic shown by all of those who participated was just amazing," Mr Hutchinson said. ArtStart is funded by TAFE NSW...

The red carpet premieres of the ACRE: Film Makers in Residence documentaries in Conargo and Moulamein in late November were a great hit with each attracting over 100 locals. Dressed in their after five wear, audiences flocked to the Bowling Club in Moulamein on Friday 25 November to watch 'Hit me on the head with a raindrop' and to Conargo Hall the following night for the 'Market to Market' premier. Both events were a great success with audiences captivated by the documentaries. South West Arts received funding from the Regional Arts Fund, Murray Catchment Management Authority; the Wakool Shire and the Conargo Shire received funding for the project through the Country Arts Support Program...

Regional Arts NSW Chair, Meg Larkin, with NSW Minister for the Arts, Virginia JudgeA touch of rain didn’t dampen the mood of the inaugural Palette on the Pier festivities. The October 27th fundraising event to benefit Regional Arts NSW went off in style with the lit up Sydney Harbour Bridge and Luna Park as the spectacular evening back drop. $98,000 funding boost for RABS announced by George Souris MP

Arts NSW 2013 Funding Program now open

Minister for the Arts, the Hon George Souris MP, has announced the opening of the 2013 Arts Funding Program. Guidelines for the 2013 Arts Funding Program (AFP) can be downloaded from the Arts NSW website. New Board and Chair for RANSW

Lindy Hume was elected as the new Chair for Regional Arts NSW by the Board following the retirement of Meg Larkin from the Board. Lindy was re-elected to the Board for a new two year term following her nomination being ratified by the members at the Annual General Meeting held on April 11. Lindy is also the Chair of the Regional Arts Board, South East Arts and Artistic Director of Opera Queensland, a position she accepted earlier this year following her stint as the Artistic Director of the Sydney Festival. RANSW Country Arts Support Program funds 132 new projects for 2012

Regional Arts NSW is delighted to announce the successful funding applicants of the Country Arts Support Program (CASP) for 2012. This year 132 new arts projects have been given the go-ahead in regional, rural and remote NSW, with a remarkable scope of activities, ranging through classical music, oral histories, multi-cultural dance, community choir workshops, origami and graffiti art.
