The Bluethumb Art Prize
2017 was the inaugural year and surpassed all expectations, with more entries than the Archibald and a finalist exhibition in Melbourne worthy of any major institution. Building on this overwhelming success, the Bluethumb Art Prize have doubled the prize money pool and introduced category awards to give more artists the opportunity to step into the spotlight in 2018.
Prizes of $2,000 will be awarded in each of the following categories:
- Works on Canvas Award
- Works on Paper Award
- Photography Award
- Other Media Award
- People’s Choice Award (voted for by the public)
The overall Bluethumb Art Prize of $10,000 will be awarded to the work considered by the judges to be the most outstanding across all categories.
Australian artists are invited to enter an original signature piece that represents their unique artistic practice. The subject matter and style of the piece is left entirely to the artist’s discretion.
This is an exceptional opportunity for artists to showcase their work and join a supportive community of diverse Australian artists, whilst enabling collectors nationwide to discover exciting emerging talent.
