Kestin Illustrator Award
The Kestin Indigenous Illustrator Award is a national biennial award that identifies new talent in the art of children’s picture book illustration.
Awarded to an Indigenous artist or emerging illustrator, the winner receives $10,000, a professional mentorship and the opportunity to illustrate a children’s picture book by a renowned Indigenous author.
The award is generously supported by the Kestin Family Foundation.
Magabala Books invites entries from artists and emerging illustrators who have a genuine love of children’s picture books and who are passionate about learning the craft of visual storytelling. The Kestin Award is open to all artists and illustrators of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander descent, who are unpublished or had illustrations published in no more than two publications. Entries will be judged on the merits of the illustrations submitted. Prior achievements or qualifications will not form part of the judging process.
