Grants From Midsumma Festival
Midsumma Festival is offering a new professional development program for queer artists with disability. A small group of selected participants will deepen skills in their creative practice and learn in a supportive artistic environment. The program is called Midsumma Pathways.
Midsumma Pathways will develop skills and build capacity for participants, introducing you to professional LGBTQIA+ artists through workshops and mentorships.
Professional artists and arts workers lead Midsumma Pathways. This program will cover essential subjects in making art as a queer person with disability within a queer environment. You will also have the opportunity to co-design elements of the program to suit your needs and goals.
Inclusivity and diversity are vitally important to Midsumma Festival. We are an organisation that creates safe and inclusive places for all people. Midsumma Pathways builds on the goal of Midsumma Festival to be as accessible as possible.
During Midsumma Festival 2018, there was a high increase in Auslan interpreted and audio described events, and a large-scale tactile art installation at Midsumma Carnival, made in collaboration with Description Victoria and Slow Art Collective. We also reward our Event Producers who actively make accessible events.
