Grants Closing in October 2021

Visions of Australia

Australian Government Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Communications

The Visions of Australia regional exhibition touring program supports audience access to Australian arts and cultural material, with a particular focus on tours to regional and remote Australia.

The Visions of Australia program funds the development and touring of exhibitions of cultural material of historic, scientific, design, social or artistic significance.

Tours must include at least three venues outside the organisation’s home state or territory. Regional and remote venues are a higher priority for funding.

The Cultural Fund - Grants for Organisations - Round Two

Copyright Agency

The Copyright Agency’s Cultural Fund provides support to organisations for projects that deliver opportunities for authors, journalists, artists and key industry stakeholders in the writing, publishing, education, and visual arts sectors.

Our aim is to support our members and stakeholders to create, award, present, publish, and promote work by Australian creators that connects with audiences.

We also offer grants to leading organisations to help build literacy skills for children and young adults.

In most cases, the Cultural Fund’s grants for organisations are for a single project for up to a year; however, in some instances funding for three years may be approved.

Grants for Round Two will support projects that start after 1 January 2022.

Playing Australia: Regional Performing Arts Touring Fund

Australia Council for the Arts

The Regional Performing Arts Touring program supports performing arts to reach regional and remote communities across Australia. Grants are available to support the net touring costs associated with a national tour. There is no limit on the amount that can be requested.

Playing Australia is open to applications for funding with some adjustments to the guidelines accounting for COVID-19 conditions.

These adjustments take account of:

  • current extenuating circumstances for producers and presenters, allowing for flexibility within tours
  • additional costs which may be required for the safe delivery of tours
  • potential for state border closures and varying conditions between states and regions
  • ongoing financial implications of COVID-19.

Additional investment for regional touring in 2021
We also welcome the additional investment of $5m for the Playing Australia Regional Recovery Investment 2021 announced by the Arts Minister, Mr Paul Fletcher MP in late April. The final round to disburse this additional investment closes on 12 October 2021.

The first closing date for the reconfigured Playing Australia Project Investment category will be in March 2022. This will also be the closing date for applications for Playing Australia Multi-Year Investment 2023-2025.

Carstairs Prize

National Association for the Visual Arts (NAVA)

The Carstairs Prize aims to support socially engaged art projects that embrace participatory and collaborative experiences, bring participants into active dialogue with the artist(s) in order to involve audiences beyond the art community.

The prize is intended to contribute to artwork production costs to assist the successful applicant(s) to develop and present new work.

This is a new program supported by the donor of the previous Carstairs Residency Prize. Named after the Carstairs, the prize drew its name from an intriguing and eccentric blend of writers, poets, painters, pianists, and illustrators who immigrated to Australia from Fife, Scotland in the 19th century.
