The Lloyd Rees Memorial Youth Art Award

The Lloyd Rees Memorial Youth Art Awards were established in 1981 by the Lane Cove community with the intention to promote, support and encourage our young and talented emerging artists throughout Australia. The Awards encourage young artists to learn and excel in their art practice by providing funds to assist them start their journey. The Awards are held every two years and the main award is an Aquisitive Prize of $5,000, which becomes part of the Lane Cove Council Collection and a solo exhibition the following year in Gallery Lane Cove. The Awards were named in honour of Dr. Lloyd Rees one of Australias’ most treasured artists of the 20th century. Dr. Rees was a very active and generous local of the Lane Cove Municipality and many of his most wonderful drawings, paintings and etchings come from the surrounding landscape.

Centrehouse Arts Centre manages the awards and is now able to host the exhibition in the modern facilities of Gallery Lane Cove. The Lane Cove Council are the major sponsor of the Awards, with the further support of the Lane Cove Art Society, providing a highly Commended Prize of $1,500, while Centrehouse Art Centre, provides a further $1,000 for the Commended prize.

The Awards are open to artists and residents of Australia, 18 – 30 years, with works in drawing, painting, and printmaking. The next Awards will be held in 2021.

Windmill Trust Scholarship for Regional NSW Artists

National Association for the Visual Arts (NAVA)

Established in 1997 in memory of the artist Penny Meagher, the emphasis of the Windmill Trust Scholarship is to support professional artists from regional NSW to develop and or present their work.

This scholarship provides assistance towards the cost of:

• exhibiting work such as framing, freight, space rental, promotion, artists’ fees, installation and documentation

• professional development and education

• independent artistic research or practice such as studio rental, material or labour costs.

Funding Available: One individual or group will be awarded up to $10,000 + GST.

Aesthetica Art Prize 2022

Hosted by Aesthetica Magazine, the Aesthetica Art Prize is a celebration of excellence in art from across the world. It offers both emerging and established artists the opportunity to showcase their work to a wider audience, and further their engagement with the international art world. The Judging Panel enhances its position in the industry, bringing together specialists from leading cultural institutions.

Categories include: Photographic & Digital Art; Three-Dimensional Design & Sculpture; Painting, Drawing & Mixed Media; & Video, Installation & Performance.

Aesthetica Creative Writing Award 2021

Aesthetica Magazine

The Aesthetica Creative Writing Award is an international literary prize that celebrates excellence in Poetry and Short Fiction. Hosted by the international art and culture publication, Aesthetica Magazine. With the aim to support and nurture new writing talent, it awards publication within an inspiring anthology to a shortlist of 60 writers, including a winner from each category.

The winners are also presented with further opportunities to expand their literary careers: £1,000 cash prize each, a consultation with literary agency Redhammer Management, a Full Membership to The Poetry Society, a subscription to Granta and books courtesy of Bloodaxe Books and Vintage Books.

Aesthetica champions artists across a range of media, with talent development at its core. It presents two further awards: the Aesthetica Art Prize and the Aesthetica Short Film Festival (ASFF). Through its three awards, Aesthetica showcases leading practitioners and supports their career through its international reputation and links with the creative industries.
