Pitch Australiana - VICE and Screen Australia Pitching Competition

Screen Australia

VICE Australia and Screen Australia are partnering on a pitching competition offering Australian filmmakers a chance to win a commission for a short documentary project.
 
The winning project will be released online through leading global media company VICE as part of their digital series, Australiana.
 
WHO CAN APPLY
Applicant teams must consist of a director or producer, one of whom has at least one documentary screen credit in their respective role on a project that has been broadcast and/or screened at a recognised film festival or distributed on a significant curated online platform.

THE PRIZE
Screen Australia will commit $30,000 and VICE Australia will commit $20,000, meaning a total of $50,000 funding is available for the production of one documentary.

Copyright Agency First Nations Fellowship

Varuna the National Writers House

Varuna’s Copyright Agency Fellowships for First Nations Writers are open to all writers, published or unpublished, who are of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent and are currently living in Australia.
 
Varuna will award four Copyright Agency Fellowships in 2018. Each fellowship includes:

  • A week’s residential fellowship including accommodation, private writing space, and full board.

  • A one-on-one mentoring consultations with Dr Peter Minter, Senior Lecturer in the Department of English at the University of Sydney, as well as a writing consultation with a Varuna consultant.
  • Reimbursement of all travel expenses to and from Varuna (we are in the Blue Mountains of NSW, 100 kilometres west of Sydney).
  • A publishing appraisal from Magabala Books, Australia’s leading Indigenous publisher, for any work that you complete as a result of this fellowship, available for up to 18 months following the period of your fellowship.
