World Champion Ragtime Jazz Pianist to Perform in Orange
The Orange Regional Conservatorium (ORC) is proud to present world champion pianist Adam Swanson Tuesday 23rd October 6pm. As part of his East Coast Australian tour the American pianist will be appearing at the James Sheahan Catholic High School Performing Arts Centre, taking advantage of both the fantastic venue and beautiful Steinway Grand Piano.
Adam is one of the world’s foremost performers of vintage American popular music, including ragtime, early jazz, the Great American Songbook, and more. He holds a bachelors in classical piano and a master’s in musicology from the Peabody Conservatory of Johns Hopkins University. Although he is only twenty-six years old, Adam has been a featured performer and lecturer at ragtime and jazz festivals across the United States, and he is the only four-time winner of the World Championship Old-Time Piano Playing Contest.
This collaboration between the ORC and JSCHS Music Department is vital to bringing international artists to Regional NSW. This joint venture brought Canadian musician Avan Yu to Orange earlier this year, Avan was delighted with the level of facilities and enthusiasm for music and culture in a regional area. He left audiences amazed with skill and artistry often not seen outside of major centres. In what is sure to be a repeat performance Adam will showcase his award winning skills to the local music community.
This performance will be a must see for lovers of traditional jazz music, Americana and virtuoso piano performance. Tickets on sale now!
