Wagga Wagga Art Gallery | Sound Design Workshop and Performance by Dave Burraston
Wagga Wagga Art Gallery is delighted to host Dave Burraston for a Sound Design workshop and performance. Burraston is an award winning artist/scientist working in the areas of technology and electronic music and he will present a workshop concluding with a performance on Saturday 17 March.
His experimental arts practice encompasses field recording, landscape-scale sound art, chaos/complexity, sound synthesis and electronic music. He performs, lectures, conducts workshops and creates art installations in Regional NSW and around the world. David also designs and builds sound synthesizers based on his theories of chaos/complexity science.
Join Dave Burraston as he demonstrates acoustic/contact mics and hydrophones to capture sounds from around the lagoon. Participants will also be given guidance on processing and designing these recorded sounds using computer software, as well as cost saving DIY techniques. David is presenting this workshop as part of his Regional Arts Fellowship. This Regional Arts Fellowship is supported by the NSW Government through Create NSW. No experience required. Just bring your walking shoes a hat and an enquiring mind.
Following the workshop Burraston will perform at Wagga Wagga Art Gallery on Saturday 17 March in front of the reflection pond of the National Art Glass Gallery from 5pm. This is a free event but seats are limited: please contact Wagga Wagga Art Gallery on 02 6926 9660 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
