The Department of Non-Human Resources: Make or Break
The Make or Break exhibition aims to invite speculation, collaborative thinking, research, conversation and hands-on making to dig into the important questions of sustainability in an uncertain future with The Department of Non-Human Resources. The exhibition space itself will take on a fluid nature as it adapts to the artists’ work on a series of storytelling and prototyping activities with local people who integrate and experiment in related ways.
The collaboration between artists Connie Anthes and Rebecca Gallo, who live and work on Gadigal, Bidjigal and Burramattagal lands in inner-city and western Sydney, is the essence of Make or Break. They will be facilitating actions and spending time on the Bundjalung land during the exhibition.
The gallery will be subjected to collective rethinking and will be examining its relationship with waste, consumption, knowledge production, cycles of nature and community.
Make or Break will be unpacking their show in the gallery live while thinking and taking suggestions from the public about how the exhibition and workshops should be organised. Community members are welcome to drop in to the gallery between 11-3pm.
