In collaboration with the Macleay River Historical Society, the Slim Dusty Centre invite you to the launch of “Glass from the Past’ – Photos from the Angus McNeil Collection. The Launch is on Friday February 3rd at 4.00pm.
The Angus McNeil Collection is one of Australia’s largest collections of large plate glass plate negatives. McNeil documented just about every aspect of Macleay life from the late 19th century until 1944, during which time he ran a photographer’s studio in Belgrave Street, Kempsey. The Macleay River Historical Society (MRHS) houses more than 30,000 of his original glass plate negatives. Judy Waters and Debbie Reynolds, with an amazing dedication have saved and digitised this most amazing collection providing access for people to connect to the history of the Macleay.
