Regional Arts Australia Summit | Arts & Edges Highlights Launch
BE A PART OF SOMETHING BIG…
On Friday 2nd May, the Regional Arts Australia Summit launched the program highlights in anticipation of the event, being held this year in Kalgoorlie-Boulder WA.
Artistic Director Ben Fox announced the Summit’s Keynote Speakers in an event that included a statement by W.A. Minister for Culture and the Arts, and Frank Panucci Executive Director of Funding at the Australia Council.
The highlights include The Burning, a theatrical collaboration between Western Australia’s flagship theatre company Black Swan and Boulder-based theatre group Stage Left, who will present an adaption of Rod Moncrieff’s heavily-researched non-fiction novel Slow Burn: The Kalgoorlie-Boulder Riots of 1934. Two presentations from DADAA which incorporate large-scale video and sculptural installations.
The speakers program features Lindy Hume as a highlight. Lindy is the Artistic Director at Opera Queensland and a passionate member of Regional Arts NSW’s board. “Lindy’s vision and achievements are inspiring. Her extraordinary work is raising the bar while opening doors and hearts to regional arts in Australia. Lindy says we need to ‘ change our language, mindset and practices, in the national cultural narrative’ and she is out there now, walking the talk and showing us how,” says Ben Fox, Artistic Director.
