Possum skin cloak healing workshop, Gerringong
Banmirra Arts in partnership with Boolarng Nangamai Aboriginal Art & Culture Studio is running Possum skin cloak healing workshop for the community to make a Dharawal possum skin cloak. Young people and children are invited to make possum skin dance belts and armbands. Possum skin cloaks are one of the most sacred artefacts to Aboriginal people. Banmirra Arts artists, Vicki Couzens, Lee Darroch, Maree Clarke and curator Amanda Reynolds are leading the revival of cloak-making across South-eastern Australia. They ask Elders, knowledge holders, parents, youth and children to all come along. For details call Lee Darroch on 0467 891 001 or Kelli Ryan on 0414 322 142.
The workshop is supported by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Healing Foundation, Boolarng Nangamai Aboriginal Arts and Culture Studio and Boolarng Nangamai Aboriginal Corporation
