Parkes Library is hosting an exhibition from western NSW artist Gavin Coote during March. The contemporary artist is a journalist in regional NSW, whose artistic style has been described as reminiscent of are reminiscent of Australian artists such as Reg Mombassa, Pro Hart and Adam Cullen.

His focus sits with images of Australiana, drawing upon his early years of  recreating the tractors, harvesters and windmills that dotted the landscape of his family’s farm.

“The Australian landscape is also something that has incredible power over my creative work, as is the case with any artist who has the utmost privilege of living in this beautiful country,” says Coote.

Coote’s quirky and surreal paintings go on exhibition at Parkes Library on Wednesday 1 March, with an official opening being held on Friday 3 March.
