Nexus Gallery | The Botanic Ashes
Growing up near a National Park, Bronwyn Rodden developed a passion for Australian native plants.
Experimenting with inks created from her garden, Bronwyn Rodden’s The Botanic Ashes: England v. Australia works have been made using inks from Australian plants (Wattle, Smilax, Davidson’s Plum, Native Olive, Rusty Plum, and Eucalyptus) and traditional English inks (Woad, Madder and Oak Gall Ink, together with Alder, Rose and Ivy Berry inks). The final works awarded Rodden the Bellingen Community Art Prize Works in Paper category for 2018, and noted by the judges as “controlled and compelling.”
