Internationally Acclaimed Musicians Visit Orange to Perform & Inspire

The Orange Regional Conservatorium (ORC) will proudly host internationally celebrated musicians Elena Kats-Chernin and Tamara-Anna Cislowska Friday 11th May at 6pm for an inspiring concert of piano music. Kats-Chernin is arguably Australia’s most recognised composer while Cislowska is a considered one of the country’s finest pianists.

Elena Kats-Chernin is a force of Australian composition and creativity having written music for the Sydney Olympic Games, Rugby World Cup, Oscar winning directors and hit television programs. Piano students across the country perform her works for exams and almost everyone will have heard her music at one time or another.

With three ARIA No.1 albums, numerous awards and tours with the likes of the Australian Chamber Orchestra, Tamara-Anna Cislowska is a powerhouse of piano playing who has worked closely with Kat-Chernin many times, artfully performing and recording her compositions over several acclaimed albums.

Bringing inspirational, exciting artists to the Central West is a core part of what the ORC provides the community and a fundamental part of great music education. Which is why we are especially excited to be bringing together local high school music students for a composition workshop with Elena Kats-Chernin. The afternoon of the concert Elena will demonstrate and explain her music to the students, offering an invaluable and unique experience. ORC piano students will also have the opportunity to attend a masterclass with Tamara-Anna Saturday morning after the concert from 11am – 12pm that members of the public are welcome to observe.

“These are fantastic and unique opportunities for regional music lovers and students”, said ORC Music Director Donna Riles, “The core goal of the ORC is to inspire and bring together the Orange music community by facilitating concerts and educational experiences just like this.”

Friday evening’s concert will feature both performers playing together at the piano, showcasing pieces from Tamara’s chart topping albums Butterflying and Unsent Love Letters: meditations on the music of Erik Satie. Don’t miss this chance to see two of the world’s finest musicians right here in Orange, tickets on sale now.
