Head On South | Bowral
Southern exposure is showcased in this satellite photography event
Head On is the largest photo festival in the Southern Hemisphere, and now it’s coming to the Southern Highlands next weekend. This satellite event will showcase regional photographers, screen based artists and digital wranglers in a slideshow format presentation.
4000 photographers submitted entries to the Head On this year in a bid for the $50,000 worth of prizes. Many winners addressed pertinent social issues. For a distinctly southern NSW perspective, Head On South is a slideshow format event showing the obsessions, ideas and projects of photographers based in the Southern Highlands.
The event was instigated by local photographer Hamish Ta-mé. The idea to host such an event was instigated by Hamish is currently a finalist in the National Portrait Prize at the National Portrait Gallery Canberra. He has formed an energetic and experienced commitee to run the event.
The format will be each artist presenting twenty images with an allotted time of fifteen seconds per image. This fast paced-style is very exciting and entertaining. Part of the slideshow will be dedicated to showing images by local primary and secondary school children.
This event will receive significant media attention, and celebrates photography in any form regardless of the capture method, equipment or technique so is a great opportunity to see the talent of the Southern Highlands artists as part of Australia’s biggest photographic event.
Bring a blanket, a hamper and settle in for a great night of inspiration and creativity.
