Gunnedah Shire Council | Live Theatre Performance - Good with Maps
The award-winning live theatre performance Good with Maps is coming to The Civic on Thursday, 15 November.
The solo performance is “a reflective story of the unknowns” told as a narrative, written by playwright, poet and essayist Noelle Janazweska.
The narrator explores the idea of there being few unknowns left in the world on a trip to the Amazon, when she discovers her father has been diagnosed with an illness that is still one of the greatest unknowns in the world; Parkinson’s disease.
Gunnedah Shire Council Cultural Precinct Supervisor Lauren Mackley is excited Gunnedah has the opportunity to host the live performance.
“Good with Maps is a rare and beautiful production,” Ms Mackley said.
“Thank you to Arts On Tour and Critical Stages Production for taking this treasure on the road, you don’t want to miss it.”
Written by Noelle Janaszweska and performed by Jane Phegan, Good with Maps has been described as, “a fine performance, delivered from the heart in a way that seems authentically autobiographical” by the Edinburgh Guide, and received nominations and awards at the 2017 Sydney Theatre Critics Awards.
Ms Mackley said the performance is powerful but playful.
“The story skilfully raises the tension and just as skilfully diffuses it with comedic segways,” she said.
“The audience will follow along the narrator’s journey of humour, contemplation, exploration and discovery.”
Good with Maps is held on Thursday, 15 November from 6.30pm at The Civic. Tickets are $25 and can be purchased at the door or online at www.thecivic.com.au
