Flamingos, a phone call & gunfighters at Flix in the Stix 2015

Stories of flamingos, a phone call and gunfighters will be served up to regional audiences at Flix in the Stix 2015.

The high profile festival will also include the Oscar nominated The Phone Call features Sally Hawkins and Jim Broadbent.

The touring regional film, music, comedy and arts festival will be in Coffs Harbour – February 6, Armidale – February 7, Dubbo – February 20, Orange – February 21 and Bowral – February 28.

BAFTA award-winning film Room 8 from Britain and Los Angeles Film Festival winner The Gunfighter will premiere in Australia at the festival while German short Flamingo Pride will also feature in the line-up.

Curated by award-winning actress Deborah Mailman, the festival will also feature live music from ARIA award winning artists, My Friend the Chocolate Cake and comedy sensation, Tripod.

As curator, Mailman’s role is to choose films that complement each other.

Mailman said she was thrilled to be part of Flix in the Stix and to be able to bring together some of her favourite short films, filled with artists she loves and respects and stories that are a good yarn.

What better way to enjoy a night out under the stars than with a feast of film, food and great entertainment?’ Mailman said.

Mailman was the first Aboriginal actress to win the Australian Film Institute Award for Best Actress in a Leading Role. She is also well known for her roles in The Secret Life Of Us, OffspringBran Nue Dae and The Sapphires.
