First Nations Writers Network Workshop

Regional Indigenous Writers Welcome to Attend

The First Nations Australia Writers Network (FNAWN) will host the inaugural First Nations Australia Writers Workshop in Brisbane at the State Library of Queensland on May 9th and 10th 2013

The vision of the FNAWN is to foster a vibrant Aboriginal writing sector that offers greater opportunities to participate in, share and strengthen the arts practice, and to develop careers and businesses for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander writers.

Literary and publishing sector professionals and agencies will be contributing and supporting the strengthening of this important voice in the Australian cultural landscape.

Festival features:

  • peer-to-peer panels
  • presentations
  • roundtable discussions
  • hands-on genre writing workshops

The First Nations Australia Writers Network has a three year partnered relationship with the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Arts Board of the Australia Council. Supporters can donate to the workshop via Creative Partnerships Australia, who are seeking bursary support to allow Indigenous writers, including those from remote areas, to attend.
