Copyright Law and Practice Symposium
Held in Sydney, the biannual Copyright Law and Practice Symposium is brought to you by The Copyright Society of Australia together with the Australian Copyright Council. The goal is ‘Building a Fairer Framework for the Future’.
Across the course of two days, panels and sessions will feature Mike Weatherley, former MP and Advisor to the UK Prime Minister on Intellectual Property, Jon Baumgarten, former General Counsel US Copyright Office and US attorney, and Dr Eleonora Rosati of Southampton Law School. Other industry leaders will include Karen Don, Richard Finlayson, and Jane Perrier.
Topics covered will include assessment of international frameworks – of copyright reform in the European Union and the development of fair use in the United States, ethics in dealing with challenges for copyright users – such as Indigenous and Cultural Intellectual Property, and of addressing issues of online infringement.
