Civic Theatrette, Mossvale | Good with Maps

Described by Sydney Arts Guide as a ‘performance essay’, Noelle Janaczewska’s lyrical and haunting work GOOD WITH MAPS is coming the Southern Highlands Arts Festival.
GOOD WITH MAPS is one of those rare and beautiful productions…where a fine writer has handed a text to a fine director who calls forth a great performance for a fine actor who inspires creatives around her to produce their best for the show”. (Lisa Thatcher)
Directed by Kate Gaul of Siren Theatre Company, this show is being toured across NSW by Critical Stages. CMS Productions is delighted to bring the show to Moss Vale in association with Southern Tablelands Arts.
Originated at Belvoir Street theatre, the show has also been performed at the Adelaide and Edinburgh Fringe Festivals, attracting critical and popular acclaim.
With specially composed music and a simple set, the performance is intelligent and haunting. When the world map was full of gaps, the Amazon topped the list of places unknown to western explorers. In 2018 are there any ‘unknowns’ left? On a trip to the Amazon, the writer ponders this and other questions as she struggles to deal with her father’s journey through Parkinson’s disease towards what is perhaps our last great unknown.
Sometimes sad and confronting GOOD WITH MAPS is also funny and thoughtful, and celebrates the power f reading and literature to transport us to places both real and imagined.
Noelle’s unfailing ability to ignite universal emotions and laughter in all of us while gloriously revealing her own exquisite uniqueness is on of this peice’s great joys.
Timed to coincide with Arts Month, this will be a performance treat of a quality that is rarely available in the Southern Highlands. Not to be missed.
