CASP Project | M is for Mother
digital installation & exhibition
The visual art and digital installation exhibition, M is for Mother, is one of the creative outcomes of the Love & Life Project by Slippry Sirkus. The project has seen young mothers across the Macleay Valley work with emerging artist Caylie Lyon to explore what it means to be a mother and the impact of motherhood one one’s identity.
M is for Mother examines the challenges of motherhood, community and societal attitudes, and responses to mothers, particularly young single mothers. The project involved iPhone, internet and social media technology to produce digital imagery, as well as paintings and drawings interpreting this imagery made by Caylie Lyon and her child.
As community cultural development practitioners and change makers, Slippry Sirkus strives to provide regional, rural and remote communities with access to the arts and creative industries, using readily available tools to produce creative outcomes that are a vehicle for expression, exploration, and storytelling. The Love & Life Project is a collaboration between Slippry Sirkus and artist Caylie Lyons.
