Cargo - Art in Transit Hits the Road
First stop - Henty Field Days September 22-24
Cargo – Art in Transit is Murray Arts brand new, custom-designed travelling exhibition space, that will present art in a familiar setting…at your local library, down the High Street…even at this year’s Henty Machinery Field Days!
Custom-designed and commissioned by Murray Arts with Blaze Displays, this purpose-built exhibition space will showcase some of our regions finest contemporary artists.
The aim is to venture out and share this unique gallery experience with an entirely new audience, to inspire the next generation of art lovers and introduce them to our thriving, contemporary art scene.
Galleries can be intimidating spaces for the uninitiated…so they’re about to challenge that notion! Cargo can set up anywhere out in the community.
It invites participation…without the label of inaccessibility – no fine arts degree necessary! Cargo gives people who wouldn’t traditionally enter a gallery space an opportunity to enjoy art and to see original artworks.
There will be information on how to interact with the artworks, without the artists actually being there. Visitors can watch the artists working or listen to a soundscape on their smart phone/smart device using designer Cargocards and an A-Positive App.
Curated by Sarah McAlister, Cargo’s first exhibition brings together nine artists from the Murray region, all on personal journeys, at varying stages of their artistic careers. Cargo is a selective display of original artworks; showcasing wood and experimental mixed media; exploring stories through photography, film and minimalist sculptures, offering visual snapshots of nature, industrial landscapes and the human form.
You’ll find Cargo at the Henty Machinery Field Days – 22, 23 & 24 September; Exhibitor Block 565 in the 9th Farm Avenue.
You can also visit the Murray region’s first, fully transportable exhibition space at…
