Candelo Village Festival 2013

Music, Arts & Local Culture in the Bega Valley

The Candelo Arts Society brings you The Candelo Village Festival on Saturday 13th April, a one day event celebrating music, arts and local culture.

The village of Candelo lies in the hills of the Bega Valley on the far south coast of New South Wales and is home to a thriving community of artists and musicians.

The Festival is a community-run, not-for-profit event hosted by the Candelo Arts Society since 2008. The groundswell of community energy saw the first festival host over 50 local, national and international acts on the one day bill – quite an ambitious project for a small town of 500 residents!

Since then, the Candelo Village Festival has established itself as a biannual event; it has retained its one day format and typically hosts between 20 and 30 acts.

The festivities include a juggling show and a roving 19th century poetess who will pen you a love note or a poem of your very own.

Don’t miss Dr. Stovepipe’s patent-pending hip-tonic, Gleny Rae Virus and her Tamworth Playboys and the acclaimed Mikelangelo and the Black Sea Gentlemen upon whom the Sydney Morning Herald poured this praise; ‘they create a complete entertainment combining elements of circus, high art, B-grade movies, dark and light comedy and swooning violins. They are not so much a band as a dream you cannot wake from.’

Visitors are welcome to camp at the Festival; there is no need to book, just roll up on Friday 12th April and Saturday 13th April at the Candelo Showground ($10 per site, payable at the gate).
