Byron Theatre | 'Open Air' Film Screening and Q&A

Join Byron Theatre on Friday 22 February at 7.30pm for a screening of Open Air, a stunning hour-long film combining breathtaking time-lapse satellite imagery of Australia with aerial photography of artworks by the esteemed Mullumbimby artist Emma Walker, set to a soundtrack of The Necks’ 2013 album, “Open”.

Produced by Southern Cross University media artist Associate Professor Grayson Cooke, Open Air pays homage to the elemental forces that shape the earth over time. It presents a beautiful new perspective on Australia, from 700km above the Earth.

Open Air premiered at the National Film & Sound Archive in Canberra last year, and was shortlisted for the prestigious Lumen Prize, an international competition celebrating excellence in digital art.

The screening of Open Air will be followed by a Q&A with Professor Cooke and Emma Walker, hosted by Peter Wood, Arts Northern Rivers Executive Director.
