Broken Hill Celebrates NAIDOC

Sturt Park in Broken Hill City Council attracted over 1000 people to a NAIDOC Week Family Day. Celebrations in the region this week will include hip hop training events,  cultural exchange concert, bush day and Wilcannia’s NAIDOC Ball.

ABC Broken Hill covered the event, interviewing  Indigenous musician and actor Stephen ‘Bammba’ Albert who participated in the Menindee celebrations for NAIDOC Week.

He told the ABC, “I’ve never come across a community, as such, where there’s a lot of support, especially with the indigenous people.”

NAIDOC is a celebration of who we are, what we are and what we come through and it’s a celebration of where we are heading and it’s a celebration of sustaining our lifestyle, including our language and culture.”
