Broken Hill Celebrates NAIDOC

Sturt Park in Broken Hill City Council attracted over 1000 people to a NAIDOC Week Family Day. Celebrations in the region this week will include hip hop training events,¬† cultural exchange concert, bush day and Wilcannia’s NAIDOC Ball.

ABC Broken Hill covered the event, interviewing ¬†Indigenous musician and actor Stephen ‘Bammba’ Albert who participated in the Menindee celebrations for NAIDOC Week.

He told the ABC, “I’ve never come across a community, as such, where there’s a lot of support, especially with the indigenous people.”

NAIDOC is a celebration of who we are, what we are and what we come through and it’s a celebration of where we are heading and it’s a celebration of sustaining our lifestyle, including our language and culture.”
