A Little Piece of Heaven - Mudgee Readers' Festival

Long awaited book launch!

The acclaimed stage show A Little Piece of Heaven has swept through the region and even toured to Melbourne — and now it’s your chance to hear from storytellers Aunty Ruth and Uncle Dick Carney and share in the launch of their story in book form.

The Mudgee Readers’ Festival is proud to host the launch of Ruth and Dick Carney’s book A Little Piece of Heaven. Gamilaroi artist Paris Norton will be in conversation with the beloved Wiradjuri storytellers over morning tea.

The Carneys have worked with artist and writer, Sam Paine to share the story of their lives together. Dick Carney was a young Aboriginal shearer working the sheds of western NSW when he fell in love with a country girl named Ruth.

Together they made a home, navigated hard times and triumphs, and grew into respected elders of the Narromine community. Their love is an inspiration and their story is a rare glimpse of mid-century bush life and Indigenous history.

To purchase your ticket, head to the Mudgee Readers’ Festival website.

This book launch is part of the Mudgee Readers’ Festival on 17 & 18 August, with everything from book-making and engaging discussions to strange but true stories and of course, great food and wine to accompany the sparkling conversation.
