Creative Recovery Project Underway In Rappville

Arts Northern Rivers is delivering a creative recovery project in Rappville, located in the Richmond Valley. The project was developed as a response to the 2019 bushfires and has initiated opportunities for residents of Rappville and surrounds to their stories, engage in a range of art activities and workshops and get involved in the creative process.

Lead artists Charlotte Haywood and Lyndall Phelps have a strong history of delivering innovative and community-based work. They have each spent a significant amount of time in Rappville throughout 2021, working alongside community members in the development of permanent and temporary artworks.

‘It is a project of both site-specific gifting and regeneration, looking into the sense of place, people and stories through the landscape, plants and food that are enjoyed, shared and grown,’ says Charlotte Haywood.

Community members of Rappville can get involved with the project, learn new skills, exhibit photographs, engage with the artists and get on board with this exciting creative project.

The project is planned to come to a close with a free community family fun-day in Rappville on Saturday the 30th of October 2021, including the installation of Charlotte and Lyndall’s artworks, creative activities, a Rappville photography exhibition, ice-cream stall, plant giveaways, live music and more.
