A fresh face at THE END FM

South West Arts Inc has experienced an exciting few months welcoming Olivia Duffey as a trainee starting at its new youth community radio station, THE END FM.

The youth run and led radio station aims to provide quality and appropriate content specifically designed for its core audience, those aged 18 to 35, and to give members of its community the opportunity to participate in training to further develop their skills in the media and creative industries sectors.

Trainee Olivia Duffey, is doing a Cert IV in Screen and Media through The Community Media Training Organisation, giving the 20 year-old the skills needed to fulfill her position as Content and Training Coordinator and The END FM.

Olivia’s primary role is to be responsible for the overall quality and strategic direction of THE END FM programming and content, as well as facilitate training programs for THE END FM youth members and the public.

Olivia comes from a background in journalism, working in print media for more than two years after graduating high school. She has lived in Deniliquin, where THE END FM is based, since 2012 and is passionate about giving youth a voice, education, and journalism.

Olivia’s immediate supervisor is the station’s Manager, Alastair Ling, who started with South West Arts in November 2020, bringing with him more than 15 years’ experience in the industry. Since then, the station and associated training facility have already been able to offer youth training in animation, videography, film editing and most recently a podcasting course, which has been well received by the community.
