Opportunity | Applications Open for Express Media Toolkit Streams

Applications are now open for four of Express Media’s Toolkit streams, which offer writers aged 30 and under the opportunity to develop their skills in a unique and exciting online environment as part of the 12-week program.

Each program includes one-on-one mentoring and feedback from an established writer, specialised presentations from guest artists and the opportunity to network with other young people working in the same literacy form.

Toolkits:

Regional Playwriting : In partnership with Country Arts SA and Carclew, this 12-week step-by-step program brings together play theory, practical exercises, script study, group workshopping, and one-on-one mentorship to guide young regional writers through the ins and outs of playwriting. This year, 8 young regional writers will join us for a comprehensive journey into the world of playwriting.

Applications close 5pm AEST Monday 29th June 2020.

Graphic Narratives : This program will combine theoretical approaches, practical exercises, and one-on-one mentorship to guide young writers through the development of their work.  Eight participants will learn the applications of graphic storytelling and discuss the history and innovations of this unique literary practice.

Applications close 5pm AEST Monday 22nd June 2020.

Digital Storytelling : This program will combine theoretical approaches, practical experience, group workshopping, and one-on-one mentorship to guide young writers to experiment and develop their work in a range of digital forms. Over a 12-week intensive, participants join Voiceworks Online Editor, Rory Green, to analyse and produce work that buzzes, wobbles, and whirrs – writing that is interactive, generative, multimedia and massively online.

Applications close 5pm AEST Monday 29th June 2020

Poetry : In partnership with Australian Poetry, this 12-week intensive explores the histories, languages and the changing face of poetry. Participants will be challenged to engage with the art form in unique and different ways.

Applications close 5pm AEST Monday 22nd June 2020.
