09.04.2020Minister for The Arts, Paul Fletcher together with Deputy Prime Minister, Michael McCormack have announced targeted funding in support for Indigenous Arts, Regional Arts and respected charity, Support Act.
The $27million in funding will help the Arts sector deal with the devastating impact of COVID-19, which has seen performances cancelled, venues closed and many performers and crew hit by the loss of gigs.
Three particularly vulnerable areas that have received funding include:
- Regional Arts. $10million in funding will be delivered through Regional Arts Australia’s Regional Arts Fund.
- Indigenous artists and art centres. $7million in funding will be delivered under the Indigenous Visual Arts Industry Support program.
- Support Act. $10million in funding will be provided to the charity to enable them to continue their work, which includes providing financial support and counselling to artists and crew who have seen their work and livelihoods dry up overnight.
