CASP grant enables recording of Southern Hemisphere's largest playable guitar11.09.2019
Leeton’s Jason Richardson has taken Narrandera’s iconic big guitar to the next level, bringing it to life by recording the guitar with support from Create NSW’s CASP initiative.
Jason took the popular tourism drawcard and commissioned local composers to write pieces of music. He worked with Matong’s Thomas ‘DJ Wasabi’ Jones, who had memories of the guitar from country music events in his childhood.
Vic McEwan, Fiona Caldarevic and Jason created the music, which is now available at the Big Guitar website to listen to. The recordings have received a high amount of interest, both from around Australia and internationally.
Jason said it’s been a great experience to share such a unique instrument with the world.
CASP funding applications will reopen in 2020.
