Western Riverina Arts welcomes Lyllardya Briggs-Houston01.08.2019
There is a new starter at Western Riverina Arts! Yiradhu Marang! yuwin ngadhi Lyllardya Briggs-Houston, is the new Projects and Communication Officer at Western Riverina Art.
Lyllardya is a very proud Wiradjuri/Yorta Yorta/ Gangulu woman raised predominately by her maternal grandmothers’ traditional country in Narrandera. She recently returned home from Sydney to accept this amazing opportunity provided by Western Riverina Art and could not be happier.
Lyllardya brings with her a varied and experienced background working within Aboriginal affairs, integrity agencies and event management while also juggling her own creative endeavours as a textile artist, printmaker and designer.
She has recently established her own label called Ngarru Miimi which expressed the strength, unity and culture of her people.
Lyllardya says she is looking forward to combining her professional and creative strengths to engage with artists, as well as showcase the wide variety of art and promote opportunities available to the region. I’m also particularly interested in helping strengthen and culturally support the presence of Aboriginal artists within Western Riverina.
