Hay students participate in MAAS Regional Outreach Program22.08.2019
In partnership with South West Arts and hosted by Hay TAFE, the Powerhouse Museum recently presented STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics) workshops to schools in the western Riverina region of NSW. Small remote and regional schools, including the School of the Air, travelled to Hay for hands on experience through a range of interactive workshops.
A total of 113 primary and kindergarten students from the region took part in 3D printing, coding and robot demonstrations.
A robot mask-making workshop inspired by the Museum’s robot toy collection was a creative hive of activity, with robot demonstrations also included in the program.
Children and teachers were excited and inspired by the creative potential of digital technology
The day was inspiring for both students and teachers.
This is the second time MAAS and South West Arts have successfully partnered to bring new opportunities with positive long-term outcomes to students in regional areas. In 2018 the Powerhouse Museum ran a similar program in Deniliquin.
