Southern Tabelands Arts | EOIs Open for $100,000 Appin Mine Memorial Art Project04.04.2019
South32 is seeking EOIs from artists to create a major public artwork for permanent installation at the Appin Sportsground (40 Sportsground Parade, Appin) which will commemorate the 40th anniversary of the Appin mine disaster.
In 1979, 14 miners lost their lives to the disaster, which left a heavy toll on the Appin community. In recognition of the event’s 40th anniversary, an original public artwork by an Australian artist or artist collective is being commissioned by South32.
The successful applicant(s) will receive $100,000 to create their work.
Proposals must be received by Sunday 5 May.
The successful artist(s) will be notified by Friday 17 May.
