National Portrait Gallery Extends Deadlines for 2019 Darling Portrait Prize Submissions

The National Portrait Gallery in Canberra has announced it is extending its deadlines for submissions to the inaugural Darling Portrait Prize by three months.

Artists wishing to enter now have until 9am AEST on Tuesday 1 October to submit a painting of an Australian citizen, resident or person(s) who have a strong association with Australia, or who has made a significant contribution to Australian life.

The winner of the Darling Portrait Prize will receive a cash prize of $75,000, with the exhibition to be presented at the Gallery in March 2020.

Finalists will be announced in November 2019. The entry date of 1 May 2019 remains the same.
